On February 15th, the Gonzaga Women’s Basketball team, in partnership with Community Cancer Fund and the Kay Yow Cancer Fund Play4Kay campaign, will turn the McCarthey Athletic Center into a sea of pink for Paint the Kennel Pink—a night dedicated to raising awareness and supporting the fight against cancer.
This year’s game holds special significance as Coach Lisa Fortier bravely continues her own battle with cancer. Her strength and resilience have been an inspiration to the team and the entire Gonzaga community, making this event even more meaningful.
As part of this special event, Community Cancer Fund & Kay Yow Cancer Fund are making a $50,000 donation to the MultiCare Cancer Institute, helping to provide essential patient care and cancer treatment programs in the Inland Northwest.
Fans can expect an electric atmosphere, highlighted by the biggest pink t-shirt toss the Kennel has ever seen! Hundreds of PINK t-shirts will be flying into the crowd, symbolizing our collective commitment to fighting cancer together.
The Kay Yow Play4Kay initiative unites women’s basketball teams nationwide to honor the legacy of Coach Kay Yow, who dedicated her life to supporting those impacted by cancer. We are proud to join this movement and stand alongside the Zag community in making a difference.
Join us as we Paint the Kennel Pink and continue the fight against cancer—because no one fights alone.
“Paint the Kennel Pink is a powerful night uniting our community in the fight against cancer. We’re proud to partner with Gonzaga Women’s Basketball and Play4Kay to support MultiCare Cancer Institute with a $50,000 donation.” — Jon Neill, Executive Director, Community Cancer Fund
