Basketball fans filled the Spokane Arena with energy and hope as the Gonzaga Bulldogs faced the Portland Pilots in the annual Community Cancer Fund Classic. The game wasn’t just a showcase of Gonzaga’s dominance on the court, but also a celebration of the community’s ongoing efforts to fight cancer.

While Gonzaga’s commanding 81-50 victory thrilled the crowd of 9,022, the true highlight of the evening was the sense of purpose and unity that permeated the event. Proceeds from the game directly support Community Cancer Fund’s mission to fight cancer locally, improving lives across the Inland Northwest.

A Night of Impact and Giving

During halftime, Community Cancer Fund proudly announced a $500,000 donation to Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Inland Northwest. This significant contribution will help provide housing and support to families with children undergoing medical treatment, easing the burden during some of their toughest moments.

“This event exemplifies what can happen when a community comes together,” said Jon Neill of Community Cancer Fund. “We’re incredibly grateful to Gonzaga, the Spokane Arena staff, and every fan who showed up tonight to support our mission. Together, we’re making a meaningful difference.”

Basketball and Beyond

The Community Cancer Fund Classic is more than just a basketball game; it’s an opportunity to rally around a shared cause. Since its inception, this event has combined the excitement of collegiate basketball with a platform to raise awareness and critical funds for those impacted by cancer in the Inland Northwest.
