Runners and walkers will be rewarded with brunch after several miles on Oct. 14.

The Bridge to Brunch 5K, sponsored by MultiCare Health System in partnership with the University District, will start at 9 a.m. and finish, in the area east of 501 Riverpoint Blvd. on Washington State University’s Spokane campus. Brunch will be waiting at the start-finish point.

Proceeds will benefit the nonprofit Community Cancer Fund, which “supports cancer prevention and screening programs, supports cancer patients and their families, local research in the fight against cancer in the Inland Northwest,” a Multicare news release said.

“We live in an active and generous community,” said Dr. David O’Brien, senior vice president and chief executive for Multicare’s East Region. “The Bridge to Brunch is a fun and healthy event that combines both of those elements.”

Fees are $20 for ages 13 and up, $10 for 12 and younger and will include brunch and a beanie hat. Beanie hats will go to the first 500 that signup. Registration is available at www.multicare.org/bridge-to-brunch.
