No Shave November, also known as Movember, is an annual event involving the growing of beards and mustaches during November to raise awareness of various cancers.

BRIDGE TO BRUNCH 5K WILL BENEFIT CANCER FUND

The Bridge to Brunch 5K, sponsored by MultiCare Health System in partnership with the University District, will start at 9 a.m. and finish, in the area east of 501 Riverpoint Blvd. on Washington State University’s Spokane campus. Brunch will be waiting at the start-finish point. Proceeds will benefit the nonprofit Community Cancer Fund, which “supports cancer prevention and screening programs, supports cancer patients and their families, local research in the fight against cancer in the Inland Northwest,” a Multicare news release said.

In just its third year of operation, Community Cancer Fund has announced its intent to take on its most ambitious project to date; a hospitality center serving patients at Kootenai Health. The hospitality center is the result of a collaboration between Kootenai Health, Community Cancer Fund (CCF), and Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Inland Northwest (RMHC). It will provide overnight accommodations that are low cost for adults and free for pediatric patients and their families accessing services at Kootenai.

Mark Few is asking for your help. For the third year, Mark Few is one of 48 of the nation’s top NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball coaches participating in ESPN’s Coaches’ Charity Challenge. Competing coaches count on their fans for votes to advance in the tournament-like competition. The coaches receiving the most votes advance to the next round every three weeks and the top vote-getters will eventually gain a spot in the finals. The winning coach will receive $100,000 toward his charity of choice.

CELEBRITIES HELP RAISE BIG BUCKS FOR COMMUNITY CANCER FUND

​There were no professional golfers at The Showcase but 15 former pro athletes had moments where they looked the part. The 9-hole celebrity exhibition was one of several events in the third annual Showcase, which included a celebrity-amateur golf outing Friday and a concert featuring Sheryl Crow and John Fogerty later Saturday. The Showcase raised well over $1 million to fight cancer in the Inland Northwest.
